JUMBO Seafood @ East Coast Centre

Having staying at the East side of Singapore, one of the main benefit is FOOD!

There's alot of great dining places at East side. Just East Coast Park alone, there're numbers of dining places and restaurants. Me and my family love to dine at East Coast Park, it's not only convenient, but it's also a pleasure to dine at the beautiful sea view.

We went to Jumbo Seafood Restaurant at East Coast Park for dinner as our relatives visited us from Malaysia. The adults made the decision for the dishes while, we just sat down and chat, waiting for the food to be served.

Our first dish was the Cold Dish includes salad prawn, crispy baby squid, sea jelly and mango chikcen slice.

Next is our local favourite, Chicken Satay. Though it looks common, but it's not easy to grill in nice. The meat is tender and fragrance.

I love this stir fried Kailan. The Kailan serves at most of the restaurant wasn't as nice as this. It's either too soggy, bitter or too saulty. But this normal looking stir fried Kailan wasn't taste that way, it was fresh, sweet and crunchy. I simply couldn't stop eating it. BEST!!

Cereal Prawn is always our all time favourite, but this time we requested for shelled prawn as there were kids at with us and it's easy for everyone to eat. I normally prefer unshelled prawn as it taste sweeter with shell on. However, it taste as great as shelled prawn, thanks to the freshness of the prawns.

The only taste normal dish was the fried You Tiao, the taste is good as other restaurants, but it's specail to us for You Tiao being served with sweet dark sauce, although it's nice but majority prefer it to be served with salad sauce.

This sliced fish was fried with lots of fresh sliced fish. It's not fishy and spongy
We were happy to see more sliced fish than sliced ginger.

The 'XinZhou' bee hoon was also a great dish. It's not too dry. I'm wondering how the chef managed to fry such a great bee hoon.

Wow! Finally, our main superstar dish is out! Chilli Crab. This is the biggest crab I ever seen. The Pincers were really huge! The meat was very freshy and filling. It's finger lick'n good!

The only comment is the gravy. We doesn't like the texture of thr gravy. Too much of corn flour added that made it so starchy.

Just look at the size of the pincer, it's alomost as big as a fist!

Now, after a hearty meal, we come to the numbers.
2 tables, 8 dishes each, 17 adults and 4 children cost $636.20. Reasonable right!
Jumbo has quite a number of outlets in Singapore.

Ramen Ten, Ramen,

Ramen Ten means "noodle shop" in Japanese. It is the first Halal - Japanese restaurant in Singapore which serve new age food like ramen, rice sets, bento, sushi party platters, takeaway orders & delivery orders.

I'm skeptical in Halah Japanese Food as there will have alot of restrictions and may not be tasty.
However, Ramen Ten gave me a surprise on my first visit.

Karage Spicy Ramen $9.90

My first attempt was Spicy Chicken Ramen. This is the cheapest Ramen at the restaurant and is my favourite Ramen that I returned for the killer chilli.I always love spicy food. The menu stated the different degree of spiciness with the number of chilli on it. This reminds me of another Japanese Ramen restaurant. The Spicy Chicken Ramen I'm going to try has 3 chillis. The chickens were put together with the ramen and wasn't seperated from the noodle. Luckily the chicken weren't taste that soggy.

I didn't know that the minced meat look alike stuff was the chilli. I mixed them together with the ramen and the whole bowl of soup base turned red.

My lips and tounge turned numb on my first mouthful of the soup. This restaurant doesn't serve ice water and we have to order their drinks which is not cheap. The cheapest drink is mineral water. We were thinking it might turn out to be a small bottle of Av**n mineral water. Fortunately, its a 600ml Ice Mountain mineral water.

A Closed Up on the Ramen Yummy...

Soft Shell Crab $6.50

The soft shell crab was really indeed soft. It wasn't crispy enough and flat.

The Tom Yum Seafood Ramen comes with different seafood like lalah, prawn, crab meat, clam and oyster each. It's quite worth for $12.90. The Tom Yum soup base was spicy and sour enough.
Not forgeting, Ramen Ten serves sushi too but not cheap doh... So, it's more worthwhile taking the buffet if you mainly want to eat sushi. They serve buffet from 3 - 6pm I guess.
Ramen Ten is worth for trying, especially with a few friends ordering different type of Ramen and you will get to try different dishes. The concept is really great for everyone that wants to enjoy Japanese food too.

Zhou's Kitchen

We have visited The Paramount for Lunch/Dinner Ala Carte and we all love the delicacies. It's just that the pricing is quite high.
This time, we visited another restaurant under Tong Luk Group~Zhou's Kitchen.

The restaurant is situated in Far East Square where 'Lingzhi' restaurant used to be.

The surrounding of the restaurant - Far East Square

The wall deco.

Quite a smart idea. With the limited space, a so-called Private Room is seperated by a 'Ping Feng'. We still can have our private space.

the menu

We were having Ala Carte Lunch Buffet. Adult $19.80 ++ Child $12.80 ++ (Below 10 Years Old) for 39 dishes.

Prawn Craker ~ $3.00 per basket
2 baskets of Prawn crakers were served while waiting for the dishes to be served.

Appetizers

Sliced Boiled Pork with Tasty Garlic Sauce

Sliced Pork Trotters with Jelly Fish

Salad Prawns with mixed Fruits

Drunken Chicken

Deep-Fried Pran Dumplings with Salad Sauce

Baked Flaky BBQ Pork Pies

Century Egg Porridge

Deep-fried Chicken marinated with Prawn Paste

Fried Baby Kailan sauted with Sambal Belachan

The fried baby kailan was too salty for the first plate, but due to the tastiness of the vegie, we requested for light salted on the second round.

Steamed Glutinous Rice with Minced Chiken in Lotus Leaf.
The tesxture of the Glutinous rice is very smooth and it doesn't make you sick.

Pan-fried Carrot Cake

Pan-fried Chive Dumplings with Chicken

I didn' get the chance to taste the pan-fried chive dumplings as there's only five pieces and by the time I finished taking photos on the food, the food had been grabbed. Haha, anyway I'm not the fan of 韭菜, so , never mind.

Steamed Chiken Claws with Chilli Sauce (Top)
Steamed Pork Ribs with Black Bean Sauce (centre)
Steamed Shrimp Dumplings (bottom)

Chicken Claw is not my dish, I like pork ribs, however, the taste of the pork ribs and shrimp dumplings are not very surprise, it just up to the dim sum standard.

Deep-fried You Tiao with salad.

We expect to see the 'You Tiao' comes with a saparate saucer of salad sauce that what normally others do, This 'You Tiao' however has already showered with the You Tiao but amount of salad sauce has covered almost the whole you tiao that we could only taste the salad sauce.

Hot and Sour soup. 酸辣汤

When the soup was dished out, I was very excited because I missed the hot and sour soup that I used to drink at a dim sum restaurant at Boat Quay when I was working at Raffles Place.

The soup is fine, hot and sour but, as compared to the other hot and sour soup that I've tried, this bowl of soup still has some room for improvement. It would be good if the quantity of ingredients can be increased.

Complimentary one portion of "Basket Crab Rice' with 6 diners and above.

I love this dish as the carb was quite fresh and the rice was perfectly cooked. Neither too sticky nor too hard

Dessert

Sesame Cream

Chilled Mango Cream with Sago and Pomelo

This is my order, The taste mango cream was very sweet but the pomelo was bitter, so it balaced off the sweetness of the mango cream and sago.

Ice cream puff

Bite sized ice cream puff is the right portion for after a meal. It won't makes you too heavy.

Rice Dumplings with Sasame Filling

Zho's Kitchen is a good place for Dim Sum lovers, you can find the Dim Sum here at other places outside and $18.90++ Ala Carte Buffet is really worthwhile where you can have more than one order, compared to $1-$2 for per basket, you'll ended up spending more for one type of Dim Sum.

As it is a casual dining, there won't be much 'heavy' dishes that serves in The paramount. It's good for a quick and budget lunch.

The service crews will keep refilling our tea when they saw our tea were left half glass full.
